Banshee- Bean Sidhe

An old British print, Banshee.

Bean Sidhe

Woman of the Sidhe. The Sidhe is an other dimension of the world. Sometimes the Sidhe is said to be under the earth. This place is associated with Tir na nOg, the land of the eternal youngness, a mythical island believed to be an island on the west of Ireland. The sidhe is where come from spirits, fairies... People of the Sidhe are descended from the Tuatha de Danann. The sidhe is also considered as the place of rest for the heroes. A kind of Valalla for the Vikings.

What is a banshee?

A banshee is sometimes described as a woman, beautiful, well dressed. She comes front of the house were there's a dying personn, and she screams, and cries. Before the morning the personn is dead. When a bird have a weird behavior (knocking on the windows, enter in the house...) that can be a kind of banshee too. The banshee is a magical sign, an omen of death to come.

Some other legends consider tha banshee as a painful spirit, attached to a noble familly of Ireland. THis spirit suffered because of an ancestor of the familly, and then this spirit is their curse.

What are the signs?

Or she cries, if she comes as a woman. The banshee can manifest herself by others ways. To feel extremely hot without reason, and shiver just after, can be a sign of the banshee. If it's a bird, his behavior is very weird. Is not good too of course to see a dead bird, or if the bird comes to die into the house.

Is there something against them?

Nothing. There are omen. Take off the omen, you will not take off what will happen by all the way. They are not especially bad or dangerous, they are just messengers.
